The Sunset in Barcelona

There are several places to watch the sunset in Barcelona: the beach, the mountains, a rooftop bar, a park. Anywhere you watch the sunset in the city will be beautiful as you watch the sky turn from blue to pink to purple and then dark.

Park Guell is my favorite place to go for sunset. It is a really nice park, designed by Gaudi for the community, with the intent of it being a functioning community. The ticketed area consists of beautiful mosaics and is only 10 euro to enter, however there is also a beautiful park surrounding that area. One part of the park has beautiful views of the city for sunset, it is located right next to a soccer field where locals practice.

One of the more known places to watch the sunset is El Carmen- los bunkers. Here you can find several study abroad kids drinking full bottles of wine, or “haciendo botellón” as referred to in Spanish. Watching the sunset at Park Guell was much more “tranquilo”, the atmosphere was just locals playing soccer, going for jogs and hanging out. There is even a big graffiti sign in the park that says “tourists go home” in English. The public part of Park Guell gives you a taste of life in Barcelona, which I don’t always get in my every- day activities at IES, located right next to the touristy Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas with a large Corte Ingles right across the street.
